Saturday saw our first home game of the season and a welcome break from having to organise lifts to an away game. As with our previous 2 games this season we started really quickly and were straight at Albury. I was actually still talking to their manager when Toby Davies found space in the Albury area to fire home in the first minute. Thats 3 in 3 games for Toby . No wonder hes loving playing back at Cranleigh.
We continued to press and within 5 minutes we forced a corner.
A great corner from Sullivan Howick was met by Jack Rogers on the edge of the box with an overhead kick into the top corner . Jacks goal bringing back happy memories from last season when he did the same in the final. After 2 goals in 5 minutes I was one very happy coach .
That feeling lasted for about 10 minutes as the players started to suffer from goal fever .
This resulted in the team losing all shape and coercion as every one strived to try and score a hatrick.
2 – 0 at half time and despite the scoreline a not very happy coach.
More than a few words on the finer points of the game later we started the 2nd half.
A much better team performance in the 2nd half was rewarded with a great strike from Issac Holt.
Having tried to hit first time shots in the first half I did point out to Isaac to maybe take a settling touch first when theres not another player within 15 feet.
Having taken on board my carefully instructed point he took a touch and smashed a great shot into the top corner ( instead of onto the next pitch like his previous efforts)
A great 3 – 0 win and the no goals conceded yet this season.
This was down to a great performance from the defence who worked very hard all game.
Another great game from Jack Westerman who not only has blinding pace but is starting to pass the
ball out from the back accurately earning him Man of the Match
Well done team
