Man of the Match: Bertie Chapman

The U12 Blues picked up their first win of the season, with an emphatic display away to close rivals Elstead. The opening minutes were close with good chances for either side before a well taken Elstead goal saw the home team edge in front. Just minutes later they extended their lead with a well struck shot from outside the box. The Blues never gave up though and a well taken goal from striker Jack Nicholas saw the gap narrowed just before half time.
Unfortunately the break did nothing for the visitors momentum however and Elstead’s lead was back to two, with just 20 minutes left on the clock. And so the comeback started!
A well taken penalty from Leo Robson and a classy finish from Oscar Bowers after some good interplay in midfield, saw the sides level with just minutes remaining. Just as both sides seemed to be settling for the draw, some good work down the left saw Bowers cut inside, beat a defender and calmly slot his effort past a disconsolate Elstead keeper.
A superb match all round but a great result for The Blues and one that was well deserved.
