Another rainy, windy day at Glebelands — the kind of weather Cranleigh Women seem to thrive in — produced a fantastic 4–2 win over our friends from Old Tiffinians, securing our second victory of the season and lifting us to 9th in the division.

Both teams played some good football, but it was Delph who put Cranleigh ahead, grabbing her second goal of the campaign as the keeper couldn’t quite keep it out. The lead was doubled soon after when a Cranleigh corner from Caroline curled beautifully into the far corner.

Old Tiffs fought back well, capitalising on a couple of Cranleigh errors to level the match at 2–2 before the break, giving them a surge of confidence heading into the second half.

But Cranleigh’s blend of experience and youthful energy told in the end. Two of our younger players turned the game decisively in our favour: Fleur restored the lead with her second of the season from a tight angle, before Ayla sealed the victory with a composed strike from the edge of the box to make it 4–2.

A confident, all-round excellent team performance.

The fixture gods have not been kind, though — our next match isn’t until February 8th. But what a match it will be: a trip from Gatwick to St Helier, Jersey to take on table-topping Jersey Bulls Ladies. Excitement in the squad is already building!
