It’s been a fantastic start to the season across all levels of the club, from our adult teams to our youth squads. The first team have been playing some truly exciting football, and while the results haven’t always reflected the quality of their performances, there’s a real sense that success is just around the corner. I hope first team manager Sam Carpenter and his team continue to play with pace, it’s truly great to watch.
Reserves unbeaten and thriving
The reserves remain unbeaten and continue to grow in confidence each week, showing great teamwork and consistency. This is not unsurprising as they have been a very consistent team for 5–6 years under the stewardship of Ben Horne.
Development team nurturing the future
Our development team are doing an excellent job nurturing young players and integrating them into the senior setup, which is a real credit to the coaching staff and a sign of a bright future ahead.
Women’s first team making an impact
The women’s first team have also made a strong start to the season, welcoming a large number of new players who are already making an impact. Their commitment and enthusiasm at training have been clear to see, and there have been some very positive signs on match days.
Infrastructure updates
We are delighted to share some exciting updates:
-
The new pitches at Cranleigh Cricket Club are now ready and looking fantastic, providing a great surface for matches and training sessions for the 5vs5 and 7vs7 teams. As the village of Cranleigh expands, finding good places to play becomes increasingly difficult, so a big thank you to Cranleigh Cricket Club for the use of the outfield!
-
New 9vs9 goals are on their way to Snoxhall, replacing the old ones, and will feature a new blue and white net—who wouldn’t want to score in them?
-
Our grass pitches at Snoxhall are recovering well after the extremely hot spring and summer, thanks to the ongoing efforts of our grounds team from the parish council. If you see Nick and the team, don’t forget to thank them for the exceptional work they do to keep us playing each week at the fortress of Snoxhall (Fort Snox).
Get involved in fundraising
We’d like to remind everyone to get involved in our fundraising activities. These events are a vital part of keeping membership fees as low as possible, and they also help us raise money for new equipment and improvements to our facilities. Just as importantly, they’re a fun way to bring the whole club community together. With your continued support and enthusiasm, we can make this season one of our best yet, both on and off the pitch.
Respect on and off the pitch
One final note: a gentle reminder about maintaining respect during matches. We kindly ask all parents and supporters to continue encouraging from the sidelines and to refrain from engaging with opposition coaches or referees during games. Our priority is fostering a positive environment where our children can enjoy the sport, develop their skills, and feel genuinely supported.
Children are only young once, and every time they take to the field, they are not merely playing a game, they are building confidence, forging friendships, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. While we aim to be competitive and play excellent football as a club, there is no need to broadcast this from the sidelines. Let’s let our players’ actions speak for themselves.
