Cranleigh FC Women finally broke their duck on Sunday, securing their first point of the season with a hard-fought 2–2 draw away at Molesey Athletic. While the result brings a welcome reward for the team’s effort, there was a sense that all three points had been within reach.

Cranleigh took a deserved lead midway through the first half when a pinpoint corner from Caroline was met by Delp, who powered home a header for her first goal for the club — sparking delighted celebrations. Molesey responded with a well-taken lob from distance to level the score, but Cranleigh showed great resilience, restoring their advantage almost immediately. A perfectly weighted through ball from Fi sliced open the Molesey defence, allowing Gina to slot home for her first goal in Cranleigh colours.

Leading 2–1 at the break, Cranleigh looked the more dangerous side, creating several promising chances to extend their lead. However, Molesey hit back midway through the second half — a looping effort rebounding off the crossbar before being bundled over the line in a goalmouth scramble.

Honours finished even at 2–2, leaving Cranleigh pleased to be off the mark but frustrated not to have claimed their first win.

The team will look to build on this result next Sunday (26 October), when they host Hersham at Glebelands — kick-off at 2:00pm.
