Cranleigh showed real character on the road, battling to a 3–3 draw against league leaders Battersea Ironside. The result was hard-earned, with Cranleigh coming from behind three times in a spirited display.
The star of the day was Adam Bicknell, who continued his remarkable goalscoring form with a superb hat-trick. Each strike pulled Cranleigh level, demonstrating both his sharp finishing and the team’s determination not to let the game slip away.
Manager Sam Carpenter praised the squad’s resilience after the match, while making no secret of his frustration with the conditions:
“It was a really spirited performance today. We went behind three times and equalised three times – that shows the fight in this team. The pitch was probably one of the worst in the league, it didn’t suit us at all and stopped us playing our football, but we didn’t let that discourage us. We matched their style, dug in, and deserved the point.
“Bickers can’t stop scoring at the moment and took his chances brilliantly. KD also deserves credit – he worked tirelessly, got two excellent assists, and his confidence will only grow. Against the top side in the league, it was a tough game, but a well-deserved point.”
With confidence growing and another strong performance under their belt, Cranleigh now look ahead to next week’s clash with Keens Park Rangers.
