Cranleigh FC 1–1 Keens Park RangersSurrey County Premier Football League
Cranleigh Firsts were held to a 1–1 draw at home against Keens Park Rangers in a competitive match on Saturday, 27th September.
The hosts looked the sharper side in the first half, creating a string of chances, and finally made the breakthrough when James Faulkner netted his third goal of the season to give Cranleigh a deserved 1–0 lead at the interval.
After the restart, KPR came back strongly, pressing higher up the pitch and forcing Cranleigh onto the defensive. Despite opportunities to extend their lead, the home side were unable to find a clinical finish. The visitors eventually levelled from a set piece, and while both teams pushed for a winner, the points were shared.
Manager Sam Carpenter said:
“It was a very competitive game. Over the two halves, I thought we were the better side and created the clearer chances. On another day we’d have been more clinical and taken all three points, but credit to them — they came back into it in the second half. We’ll take the draw against a good side and move on to next week.”
Man of the Match went to Milo Duffin for a commanding defensive display and for creating a number of excellent chances from the back. The result sees Cranleigh retain fourth place in the league.
