Cranleigh FC are delighted to confirm the double signing of Kieran Ferguson and Liam Maher, alongside the retention of goalkeeper Joe Hurel, as the club strengthens ahead of this season’s promotion challenge.
Kieran Ferguson
Kieran arrives following a recent spell with Farncombe, having previously enjoyed success at Godalming Town. A forward with sharp instincts and intelligence, he has already impressed in pre-season, scoring three goals in three games – including a clinical finish against Ripley. His tenacity and natural eye for goal will be a welcome addition to Cranleigh’s attacking options.
Liam Maher
Liam re-joins the local football scene after three years away at university, where he balanced his studies with playing for both his university side and a futsal team. At 18, Liam turned out for Guildford City after coming through the youth ranks at Woking. Now returning to senior football, his quality, pace, and defensive stability will add depth and strength to the back line.
Joe Hurel
The club is also pleased to confirm that goalkeeper Joe Hurel has committed to the season ahead. Joe’s consistency and presence between the sticks have been a huge asset, and retaining him provides vital stability as the squad pushes for promotion.
From the dugout
Joint manager Sam Carpenter shared his excitement at the squad news:
“We are really excited about adding both Kieran and Liam to our squad for this season. I’ve worked with Liam before and know exactly what he can bring to Cranleigh, and I’ve been an admirer of Kieran for many years, having tried to sign him on a number of occasions. These two signings will almost certainly strengthen our already strong squad for the season. On top of that, keeping Joe on board is a massive boost – he’s been such an important player for us. We’re very happy to get all of this business over the line.”
With new arrivals and key players retained, Cranleigh FC head into the season with renewed energy and determination in their pursuit of promotion.
