The second tough game in a  week for Cranleigh against another of the League’s top performers, was played in difficult conditions following heavy overnight rain. After weathering an early storm, Cranleigh went a goal up after good play on the right hand side from Camron Lawson and Harry Nicholas, set up Luca Ellis for his second in as many weeks. The second half was evenly matched but a well taken penalty from Steyning and a cool finish minutes later, saw the balance of the match completely turn. Despite a valiant effort from the home side in the last 15 minutes, they just fell short of what would have been a well deserved equaliser. It wasn’t to be however and even though the reality was that this was their first defeat of the season, disappointment was rife. Cranleigh will need to dig deep  as they look to pick themselves up and continue their challenge for the title.
