Cranleigh FC has grown strongly in terms of grassroots football for girls with over 90 registered players. However, there was no current route from grassroots to senior football when those players reached open age 16+ until the start of this season.

At the start of the 2021/22 season we launched a senior women’s team. The women players who registered with Cranleigh FC consisted of those wishing to play competitive football and those whose focus was on fun, exercise and a social experience whilst playing football.

To provide playing opportunities in competitive football matches we joined the Surrey FA Women’s Flexible League a 7v7 competition. After 8 matches we finished third in the Super League Division a successful start to our inaugural season.

To further facilitate competitive senior football for women at Cranleigh FC, on a more regular basis and in the 11v11 format, we are delighted to announce that we will play in the Surrey Women’s League for the 2022/23 season.

The Surrey Women’s League is at Tier 7 in Football England’s Women’s Football Pyramid.

We will of course continue to field teams in the Surrey FA Women’s Flexible League in addition to the Surrey Women’s League.

We are looking to recruit players who want to play competitive 11v11 football Players must be 16+ and may well be moving on from grass roots football to senior football, or
perhaps playing other sports and wishing to take up football as well. Players may be returning to football after a break from the game or unable to continue playing for their current team.
