A long drive up to Molesly in appalling conditions on a very windy Saturday

At  kick off we had a slight wind behind us on a very boggy pitch . We started slowly and couldn’t get out of our half for the first 5 minutes. Despite being pinned back we did manage the first shot on goal after a great pass from Alastair Hill to Sullivan Howick. As we started to play better chances came our way with both Isaac Holt and another fine effort by Sullivan .However it wasent all our own way as Harry Dancaster cleared a free kick off the line. The game settled into a very even match and it was going need a piece of magic to break the deadlock .

A piece of magic was conjured up by Sullivan as he robbed a player of the ball and dribbled down the wing before cutting inside beating 2 more players and the keeper , 1-0.This was how the half ended with Cranleigh 1-0 up .

As we changed ends the wind really picked up making goal kicks a nightmare . Less than 3 minutes into the second half Molesly scored. A ball into our box was sliced straight up into the air which seemed to cause panic and Molesly nipped in to score 1-1. After the equaliser Cranleigh seemed to lose all composure and the game degenerated into long balls and fouls by both teams. In fact it was a free kick which led to the Molesly winner .

With the ball played into our penalty area a Molesly player stuck out a foot to deflect it in  2-1. It was a relief to hear the final whistle of a very poor second half. A 2-1 loss in a game that really was ours for the taking .

To be honest I don’t think too many Cranleigh players could hold their heads up after this performance .

So a game we will learn from and go forwards .
