After drawing away at Cobham in a friendly we had high hopes for a good result .

Cobham started very brightly but Cranleigh had the first chance with a great cross from Sullivan Howick narrowly missed at the back post by Alastair Hill, I think maybe his fringe got in the way . After 10 minutes a hopeful high ball was missed by the Cranleigh fullback ( no names but you know who you are  )The Cobham winger running through to score 1-0 down . A goal followed which myself my team and supporters would all claim was offside but then maybe we would 2-0 . Cranleigh were not in the game at this point and we were putting in a very disappointing performance. A third goal followed just before halftime 3-0. With halftime upon us it was a good time for words with the team and a bit of reorganising.

We started the second half in a more determined mood and were soon creating chances. Both Sullivan Howick and Isaac Holt had great chances saved. It was a bit of a blow after dominating the start of the half to concede a fourth 4-0. A fifth was scored and Isaac Denton – Miller was looking a bit shell shocked in goal so  it was decided to give Jimmy Smith who had nagged me all game his debut in goal .

It was also a good chance to push jack Westerman up front . Although we would miss his pace at the back we needed a morale boosting goal and a good finish to the game. Jacks pace caused chaos in the Cobham defence and he scored 2 great goals in 10 minutes with his second a very calm finish 1 v1 with the keeper.

Cobham continued to search for more goals but Jimmy Smith was imperious in goal with a string of amazing saves including a great double save. Jimmy stands around 4 foot nothing but was looking 10 feet tall in goal.mSo despite a loss and a poor first half we did at least show great second half spirit to draw the second half 2-2.
