U12 Plate Quarter Finals

First Half

It was another cold and wet Saturday with a muddy, but playable pitch.  Cranleigh started strong and were passing well.  Leo made a great pass to Daniel, who in turn tipped it onto Oscar and Oscar scored the first goal of the match with a great shot, taking Cranleigh to 1:0.

After a few more minutes Oscar took another shot on goal, which rebounded from the keeper and was quickly picked up by Bertie who scored, making it 2:0 to Cranleigh.

After a superb cross from Oscar, Jack took a shot on goal, but the Horsley keeper managed a great save.

It was a very strong first half for Cranleigh.

Second Half

Horsley came back fighting in the second half and the pressure started to build in the Cranleigh goal.  Thanks to David’s quick reflexes Horsley were kept out.

Cranleigh attack stayed strong and they were soon awarded a free kick, which Leo took brilliantly, but was denied a goal when the Horsley keeper made another great save.  Leo took another shot on goal, which rebounded from the keeper and Bertie followed up with a great touch to score the third goal, making it 3:0.

Horsley picked themselves up and made an incredible shot on goal, which David managed to turn round the post.

The pressure around the Cranleigh goal was building again, David did a great job, but on the third rebound attempt, Horsley slipped it past him and scored, making it 3:1.

Horsley were clearly spurred on by their goal and picked up the pace scoring another quickly after, making it 3:2.  The pressure kept building, Horsley were like a different team and it became incredibly tense on the side-lines.  In the last few minutes, a corner from Horsley landed on top of the net and much to the relief of the Cranleigh team, the final whistle blew with the final score 3:2 to Cranleigh.  This win takes them into the U12 Plate Semi Finals, well done all!
