An extremely tough Quarter Final pitched two of the top 4 teams against each other, just weeks after a closely fought League match. This time EGM started much brighter and were 2-0 up after just 20 minutes. Some tactical changes and a well taken goal from Ryan Taiani just after half-time saw the home show promising sign of a comeback before a well taken EGM third saw them stopped in their tracks. Cranleigh dug deep however and an own goal after pressure from Isaac Collins and a scorcher from Ryan Taiani saw the scores level at the end of normal time. Despite 20 minutes of additional time, there was little separating the sides and the realisation that the tie would be settled on a penalty shoot out soon hit home. A cool opener from top-scorer Camron Lawson put the pressure on EGM and a good save from goalkeeper Dan Laws turned the dial up a notch. A well struck second from Isaac Collins put the tie in Cranleigh’s favour before another stunning save from Laws put daylight between the two sides. Despite a well taken third from the visitors, sublime finishes from Luca Ellis and Ryan Taiani (as well as another save from Cranleigh’s demon stopper Laws) saw Cranleigh reign triumphant and progress into the semi-finals.
