Saturday was a friendly game against a team a division above us Mogador Rangers from Coulsden. On a bright morning ideal for football Mogador were straight at us from the kick off. We seemed to be struggling with their quick wide players and with them playing 3 up front. However after a few scares and a bit of sorting out we started to come into the game more . After 15 minutes some good team play released Deon Mubaiwa to score the opening goal .

We didn’t keep the lead for long as Mogador broke and their forward scored in a 1v1 with our keeper . The game seemed to settle into a real battle in the middle of the pitch with both teams having chances.Deon was very unlucky to hit the post with the keeper no where. Deon did get a second after a fantastic through ball from Ethan Payne putting us 2-1 up.

With no more goals in the half we end  2-1 up and felt confident of pushing on in the second half. The game was very tight with no team getting the upper hand . Mogador won a corner and a real goal mouth scramble ensued in which Izzy Denton – Miller saved 3 close range efforts and we just needed someone to put their boot through the ball and clear it . Unfortunately despite Izzys best efforts Mogador scored the equalizer.

2-2 and the game seemed to be heading for a draw .  A miscue clearing the ball out wide led to our demise with their quick winger seizing on the chance to go clear and score with 5 minutes left. A real shame to lose 3-2 after being 2.1 up and both of Mogadors second half goals coming from mistakes but then that’s football. Great battling performance from the team in a hard fought game .

The Mogador coach complimented Cranleigh and was impressed with the team and said that was the best game he his team had played in all season , so well done the Cranleigh
